- Before CO your elevator must have a 3rd party elevator inspection.

South Carolina: ASME CODE: Clearance between hoistway door(s) and sill(s) and car gate(s). The clearance between the hoistway doors and the hoistway edge of the landing sill shall not exceed 3". The distance between the hoistway face of the landing door and the car door shall not exceed 5".
Georgia: Clearance between hoistway door(s) and sill(s) and car gate(s). The clearance between the hoistway doors and the hoistway edge of the landing sill shall not exceed 1 1/2". The distant between the hoistway face of the landing door and the car door shall not exceed 3".
